It has been about two weeks since my last blog and most of that time was spent in my studio organizing and printing. We also had to bid farewell to one of our fellow photographers as he had to return to his home in England. He only gets to join us every two or three years but like us he is always on the move searching for new work and new ideas. It still amazes me how photography can create lifelong friendships when the photographers themselves are so vastly different in most other aspects of their lives. We have known each other for more than forty years and still hold out for the next journey even though one of our great men with a camera is eighty-three years old. As Alfred Eisenstaedt once said " If I should live to be two-hundred years old I would still be a photographer."
I am continuing to work on the prints from my recent trip to Appalachia and I am posting some black and white photos with this blog. Although; I have been a black and white printer for most of my life and worked with medium and large format cameras I am now experimenting with digital and color. I will include more of my gallery and different journeys in the weeks to come.
