Creating Photographic Art

Although I still miss working with film I have to admit that the
advantages of digital are not only enormous but lots of fun, as
well. The ability to create artwork from a photographic image
today is easier than ever. You can begin by experimenting with
the filter selections that came with the software you are using at
the moment. By manipulating a filter or even combining multiple
filters you can build a truly, original work of art that you can be
proud of. There are  a number of companies producing quality,
editing software, such as: Akvis, Nik, OnOne and Corel; just
to name a few. Also; there are websites offering free art software
that is either standalone or a plug-in to your existing software
and some are quite good. However; be careful when downloading
and if you are in doubt, avoid the site. I love to play with filters
and enjoy combining different types to come up with unusual
results. Sometimes I will be pleased with a manipulated image
but return to it at a later time and change it again. This adds a
whole new dimension to your photographic enjoyment and as
some have said, " With film you take a picture but with digital
you make a picture." I hope you like the images included in this
blog and maybe even get the urge to try it yourself, but I warn
you ---- you'll get hooked. The pictures below are all different
in their manner of manipulation so I won't go into detail unless
someone e-mails me and asks specifically about a print. By the
way; you can do this with black and white, too. I invite you to
please leave a comment at the bottom of this edition or e-mail
 me personally at studio90@wowway.com
