Michigan has been my home for fifty years and I have spent many hours of all four seasons wandering the state. A lot has changed in that time and that is what makes photography so great. The memories of what was and what is today aren't always easy to understand. The beautiful buildings that have either closed or been altered to suit today's needs. The open land that was forested and superb for hiking with a camera is now a shopping center, medical facility or theater complex. The state's landmarks have had to have fences erected around them to keep the public safe and the landmarks, as well. Nothing stays the same and as they like to say ---- that's progress.
I feel extremely fortunate, even though I complain sometimes, that I was able to photograph the people, places and things in this great state in my era. When I look back at my early photos, they were far from the quality that I demand today but I treasure them, just the same. The pictures that I am showing this month are all old prints, derived from film, that are totally Michigan. I could only choose a few so I'm certain that I have left out a place that you probably wanted. Anyway; I hope you enjoy my old images as much as I do and please leave a comment. Thanks for looking in.
