VEGAS AFTER DARK

In 2003 I took my father to Las Vegas and booked us into the Rio Hotel for four nights. He was eighty-two at the time but full of energy and loved taking pictures, so that is what we did. We hit the usual tourist spots; Hoover Dam, Lake Mead and the Strip, but then we got a brilliant idea. Why not have our evening meal on the roof of the hotel and shoot from there after dark. We lugged our tripods and gear to the roof and set up, but of course, you have to have a drink or two while waiting for the light to fade. My father was shooting a digital camera but I was using a Leica loaded with Ektachrome slide film. I developed the film within days of returning home but never printed any of the images until this spring. The pictures bring back a lot of memories for me as he passed away in 2010 but we had a great time fourteen years ago in the state of Nevada.
I am posting some of the night shots on this month's edition of my blog and some of the street shots after dark, as well. I hope you enjoy them and please leave a comment at the bottom of the page as they are all immensely appreciated. As always; thanks for looking in.
